Wentworthville presented an emphatic claim for the NSW Cup when hosting Windsor at Ringrose Park on Sunday.
Windsor arrived overflowing with Penrith NRL players, including Jarrod Sammut and forwards Adam Woolnough, Shane Rodney, Adam Schubert, Frank Puletua and Hutch Maiava.
They left beaten 22-16 by a Wenty side whose NRL players had almost all been called up by Parramatta.
The win maintained the Magpies in second place and came after an exceptional game.
Wenty struck in just the second minute when a Mark O'Grady crossfield kick was fumbled and Magpie centre James Greahan swooped.
Then an awesome Wenty defensive set contained Windsor and on the last tackle Magpie lock Broderick Wright charged down the clearing kick and passed to centre Mark Luland, who crossed for a converted try.
Great defence repelled repeated Windsor raids and Wenty led 10-6 at half-time.
Soon into the second half, a flying Wenty winger Eric Grothe took an intercept and streaked 90 metres untouched and James Maloney converted.
Wenty seemingly had it wrapped up when they scored from the next set.
Justin Horo charged through and positioned replacement centre Jonathon Wright, who sprinted 30 metres to the line for another converted try.
Windsor responded twice after enjoying a glut of possession on the Wenty line.
But resolute defence led by centre Mark Luland held the visitors out for the last 10 minutes.
Best Wenty performers in a team of great performers included Maloney, forwards Wright, Horo and Brett Blaker and fullback Tim Mortimer.
