Feleti Mateo and Joel Reddy have both been named in the Parramatta Eels team to play the Bulldogs for the Bandaged Bear Cup on Saturday night at ANZ Stadium.
Mateo and Reddy both sustained injuries in last night’s 40-12 victory over the Wests Tigers.
Mateo sent a shudder through the Parramatta camp when he stayed down clutching at his knee in the dying moments of the match.
The gifted playmaker missed several weeks earlier this season with knee ligament damage.
However medical staff diagnosed Mateo with a cork above the knee.
Reddy picked up a slight hamstring strain.
Both are expected to recover in time to take on the Bulldogs in game two of Saturday’s double header at ANZ Stadium.
The Tigers play Manly in the other match at 5.30pm.
It will be the second time the Bulldogs and Eels have contested the Bandaged Bear Cup.
The trophy was struck in recognition of the tireless work and dedication of the staff and volunteers at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
The Eels hold the cup after a 34-22 defeat of the Bulldogs in round 21 of 2007.
About 10,000 hospital staff and their families will be special guests at ANZ Stadium on Saturday, with 300 of those taking part in a parade of honour at half time.
Tickets available at www.ticketek.com or by phone 132 649.
Australian Schoolboy representative Albert Kelly has maintained his place in the Eels Toyota Cup side after an impressive debut against the Tigers.
The Patrician Brothers Blacktown halfback was one of the stars in the Australian Schoolboy team that recently defeated an English Academy side in a two match Test series.
However the Eels will be without lock Marty Lewis, who suffered concussion in Monday night’s 24-18 victory.
Parramatta's Toyota Cup team plays the Bulldogs at the Crest Complex, Bass Hill, at 3.30pm on Saturday.
The match has been re-located to accommodate the NRL Double Header at ANZ Stadium.
