Music4health hits the chord

Sydney Symphony performed for patients at the Children's Hospital at Westmead on Thursday.

The visit was part of MBF's and Sydney Symphony's successful music4health program, which gives ``uplifting and entertaining experiences'' for patients, their carers and hospital staff.

MBF chief medical officer Christine Bennett said music was beneficial to the sick.

"Among many potential health benefits, music has the ability to relax patients, improving their responses to treatment and therapy,'' Dr Bennett said.

"In addition to experiencing the therapeutic power of music, the concerts are great fun and a welcome break for the children from the routine of hospital life.''

The concert was held in The Starlight Room.
