The Six Quick Chicks comedy cabaret hit a high note when they performed at Parramatta's Riverside Theatres recently.
The talent-packed melange of bent burlesque, kooky cabaret, stand-up comedy, music and dance performers proved so popular they were asked to return next month.
The Six Quick Chicks in fact there are 12 with performers changing from night to night have new shows for the series, which will be on Fridays at 9pm.
The chicks come from backgrounds including theatre, circus, burlesque, singing, mime, cabaret and comedy, and their shows appeal to audiences of all ages and persuasions.
"In May, the response at the Riverside grew from week to week and by the end of the month we sold every ticket,'' performer Vashti Hughes said.
"It was a real hit with the Parramatta audience and about 20per cent of people came back for a second show. It's a night of variety and fun and each performance is difference.''
Vashti Hughes created Six Quick Chicks after touring her show to Hong Kong, Singapore and Shanghai. She returned to Australia and put together a line-up which would come up with the goods.
Hughes' character, and the long-time MC of the Six Quick Chicks show, the repressed secretary extraordinaire Mavis Brown "hopes to get lucky out west''.
Among the strange sisters keeping Mavis company are her sibling Christa Hughes, formerly of Machine Gun Fellatio and Circus Oz, and fellow comic-chanteuse Jackie Loeb.
Other regulars include Celia Curtis, who plays burned-out Las Vegas showgirl Anita Douche, Liesel Badorrek as German vamp Iva Sveetvun and Lucy Suze Taylor as Carmen. Vladimira, played by Annabel Lines, is a sensualist whose 10-minute act involves frying onions on stage.
